WOODWINDS COMPETITION: Bassoon, Clarinet, Flute, Oboe

The competition will be held Saturday, March 3, 2018, in the music suite of Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church located at 4823 Woodlawn Dr, Little Rock, AR.  Please come to the Lee St entrance and park in the gated area. You may come into the building through Entrance 9 and follow the signs to the warm-up, lounge and competition areas.

Eligibility: Contestants must have reached the age of 19 but not yet reached the age of 26 by the national competition date of May 25, 2018. Contestants must be legal residents of the United States. Contestants cannot be a member of a professional union or under professional management at the time of the national competition.

Audition details: Contestants must identify 3 selections on their application form that can be performed at the audition. One piece is of their own choice from any category in the classical literature: baroque, classical, romantic, 20th century or contemporary. Contestants must select one piece from each of the two categories from the repertoire requirements. One piece must be performed from memory. Judges may not require all three selections to be performed and may request the performance of an entire piece or only portions of a piece.

NSAL Little Rock Chapter Winners:

1st Place Winner gets $600 and will represent the Little Rock NSAL Chapter in the national NSAL competition to be held in Chautauqua, NY, May 23 – 27, 2018. The national competition provides the opportunity to network with woodwinds masters and compete for a $12,000 first place award, among other cash prizes.  Travel and lodging to attend the competition will be paid for by the NSAL Little Rock Chapter. More details.

The local NSAL winner will also be expected to attend and perform at the Little Rock NSAL Chapter Red Rose Tea. This is an informal gathering of Little Rock Chapter Members to celebrate and honor the local winner prior to the national competition. The Red Rose Tea is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, May 19, 2018, subject to the winner’s availability.

2nd Place NSAL Little Rock Chapter Winner gets $300.

3rd Place NSAL Little Rock Chapter Winner gets $100.
